identify.library
An Amiga library to recognize various system IDs.
What is it?
Identify is an Amiga project I have started some years ago.
The main purpose is to identify some IDs, like:
- Expansion Boards: Identify will give you the full name of an expansion board, by its manufacturer and product ID. The database has been collected over several years and is one of the (if not the) most complete Zorro database available.
- Hardware: Identify provides information about your hardware (like CPU, FPU, clock frequencies, RAM, chipset versions etc.).
- Alerts: Identify will translate the well (in)famous Guru Meditation codes in a human readable form.
- Functions: Identify will give you the name of a library function when you provide the library name and function offset.
Why LGPL?
I don't have the time to give Identify the attention it would need. Besides that I have left the Amiga platform. I am not happy about it, but I simply have to take care for the living things.
Since a lot of people still use the Identify library, and still send me requests for enhancements, I think the best is to give the Identify sources to the Amiga community.
I hope some programmers out there will be able to continue identify.
No files?
Yeah... There are no files available yet. This is because some code cleanups have to be done and instructions must be written about how you can compile and run identify.
Then, where can I get it?
Currently, Identify is still available in the AmiNet and in the Download Section of my home page.
The source codes are available on SourceForge's CVS server.
